I was in an elevator the other day and watched as the people already on the elevator shuffled away when new people got on, or they averted their eyes and turned their heads.
I thought how awful, what does it take to smile at someone and say hello?
What are we afraid of?
How many people do we pass in a day, a week, a month?
How many times do you think people smile at a passerby and greet them?
Sometimes even people in our own work settings seldom take the time to say hello.
Why is that?
A greeting costs nothing, a smile is free and hand shake is worth a thousand words.
