I turned around and saw my daughter with my grandson who had just woken up and he had his blanket in his arms. His two arms reached out toward me. As I lifted him from my daughter and he put his arms around my neck and placed his head on my shoulder. I could feel the warmth from his body and could smell the shampoo and soap from his previous nights bath. I held him for a moment before saying goodbye to leave for work. What a great way to start a day! Being a grandmother is one of the best pleasures in life. When he see's my son he calls out his name (Enio, because ever since he was a baby he misunderstood his name and called him by that name and I never corrected him) My son adores him, Daniel asks me to give him five dollars so he can give it to his grandfather. The first time he did this I asked him "why do we have to give nonno five dollars?". Daniel replied "so Nonna (my mom) can buy nonno vanilla ice cream and we can eat it together". So everytime my grandfather see's Daniel now he gives him five dollars and in turn we give him vanilla ice-cream. These are the moments that inspire me.
